Given that after a discount of 40% a furniture was bought for $438. The original price of the furniture will be calculated as follows:
discount=40%
new percentage price=100-40=60%
Original percentage price=100%
New buying price=$438
therefore, the original price was:
100/60×438
=$730
The original price was $730
