Your equation would be 2x + 3 = 20. Subtract 3 from both sides, you end up with 2x = 17. Won't end up as a whole number for sure.

Once each side is divided by 2, your final answer is 8.5. They will produce 8[tex] \frac{1}{2} [/tex] plates in 20 days.
