Persia was attacked and conquered by Islamic Arabs in the seventh century. This had a far greater negative impact on Zoroastrianism than Alexander. Many libraries were destroyed, and a great deal of cultural treasure was destroyed. The Zoroastrians were classified as dhimmis by the Islamic conquerors (People of the Book).
