the ionization energies increase from left to right on the periodic table. Since protons increase from left to right, the hold on the electrons from the nucleus gets stronger because of the increased positive charge. Since the nucleus has a stronger hold on the electrons more energy is required to remove electrons so they need higher ionization energies. Hope this helped :)
