It required China to recognize Korea's independence. China also had to recognize Japan, Taiwan, and the eastern portion of Liaodong Peninsula as fully sovereign. China agrees to pay Japan 200,000,000 Kuping taels. The treaty also opened up trade ports for Japan.
China had to relinquish control over Korea, Taiwan, and Penghi Islands and the Liadong Pennisula. Japan also would receive 200 million Taels of silver and receive grant trade favors over Chinese trade
