Look at Arnold's attempt to solve the equation for b:


3b = 12

b = 3 · 12

b = 36



Describe the mistake that Arnold made.

His mistake was in multiplying the 3 with the 12. He should have divided it from the 12 because that would have gotten rid of the 3 with the variable. It would also lead to the correct answer, which is b=4
